Breeding

i've seen those around too! :D wow i don't have to spent $239047234 on a new tank!

btw the way, can someone explain to me how a corner filter works? it's just a container with two little tube things sticking out of it. I have no idea what kind of pump you need with that

i think i might get one of those big blue rubbermaid containers, i woudl realy like a see-through one but i dont think those are that big.

my tubs cost like 7$ each. thats not that bad. i dont like keeping all of the fry together. i like to space them out into different tubs so if a disease hits one tub, it wont affect the others.
it depends what type of corner filter you are talking about. some have cartridges (like the penn plax filt-a-carb) and some are empty so you can put your own media in there. just pop an airline in and youre good to go. some require an airstone. some dont.

You should be able to find the big rubbermaid that are clear...but if you can't it shouldn't be a problem for the fish, from what I understand, they actually prefer the "privacy", it makes them feel more secure.

Oh, and thanks for the praise, but it wasn't my idea, just something I've seen mentioned on Betta forums and talked to some of the people about. It is a great idea though to save money if you have more fry than your tanks can handle, a good emergency solver, hehe.

well of course they would like privacy, but you cant see them as well. with a clear one, you can spot any problems more easily. maybe if you were worride about privacy-you could drape some kind of cloth or mesh over the tank (with holes of course)

:D i'm going to start container hunting! i think i'll perfer the clear ones too just so i can cehck up on the fish more easily and make sure theyr'e doing alright :)

i have an air pump at home :D not sure if it's strong enough (it's sorta broken i think), but it has 2 holes, does that mean i can run two filters?

do you know the gallon capacity of what the pump can run? that will depend if you can run two (or more) or not.

I realize he'd probably prefer the clear, I was just pointing out that IF he couldn't get any, the non clear are still ok for an emergency. Several of the breeders I know that have used these actually prefer the non clear as they find their juveniles actually seem to grow better in them, and they can still see them from up top. I've never used them though, so I don't know from experience.

yeah, i htink i'm going to find non-colored ones, and if i can't find any, i'll go for the big blue ones. Either way, i could just scoop them out in a container to get a closer look if i really wanted to :p
