Breeding Sooner Than Thought...

Why does everyone all of a sudden think the cool thing to do is breed fish? Is creating life the new "in" thing this year?

I know...I've been thinking the same thing and it's making me feel weird about starting my spawn in a few weeks. I've been researching and preparing for my spawn since April, and now everyone seems to think it's the "cool" thing to do right around the same time that it's time for me to start my spawn. I know it's going to look like I'm just jumping on the band wagon, and I really don't like that...

i've sat still and done research for 2 years before attempting to spawn. i have a lot of good quality bettas, and if i want to spawn them, that's my business.

I'm spowning my swordtails just for person expierence.
I'd love to spown other things too, because its a challenge, and its also part of progressing in fishkeeping.

Why is this topic almost turning into a flame war? I really want to be a marine biologist when I grow up (they have a class for it in High School next year, so ya for me).

i also think that the popularity of bettas in general is on an upward trend. i don't remember quite so many people importing from thailand in years past. with a general increase in popularity, of course you're going to wind up with more people trying to breed. many people breed other kinds of fish; this isn't a new phenomenon.

I just have a bad obsession with fish, I would have more, but my parents are saying I'm irrisponcible, ok, I got one C on my report card, but that's it! Oh, and to me breeding seems like fun to me, why? There are no afterschool activities I like and I have all the time in the world to do nothing.

Hannah is taking that class I believe, and I would so take it if I went to your school, and my parents weren't so narrow minded and private schooled me
