I now have a tank ready for breeding rams, hopefully my lfs owner has said he wil have some off me if lucky enough to breed em!

Its a 30'' x 18 x 15,planted with both plastic and live plants, has a large amount of bogwood in as well.

Undergravel filter with two powerheads and a 800lph external.

Im thinking of adding four in the hope that 2 pair off.

Or should i add a juvenile pair?

There are also 2 gloden ancistrus plecs in the tank, these will be bred when mature as well.

Can I add any small tetras into the tank also?

Any other info u can offer me plz?

if your water is hard, your eggs will fungass within a day, so best get somthing just incase (I recommned the interpet water softening pillow, its works brilliantly). If you got ancistrus they may eat the eggs, tetras might also eat the fry. I have mine with guppies, they can barely swallow bloodworms anyway lol

Picek up 4 golden rams ( i think ) they were just listed as hybrids, the owner mentioned that they were imported from Israel! There less than 1'' but there the most gorgeous colours around and they cost me £7 each.

I will give the tetras a miss i think,or maybe put a few guppys in providing you havent had any probs with em!

I put my rams in friday and looked in the tank and theres a batch of eggs!!!

What do I do now??

New couple need several tries to get it right. After that, they are good parents.

If you are not breeding for commercial purpose, it's the best to let the parents do the job. Looking after the eggs is 24hr job.

I had tried it on my 3rd batch. The eggs need constants waterflow, and need cleaning, removing dead ones. If you don't remove them right the way, they will spread fungus to nearby eggs within hours. . The parents will eagerly do the job. I'll let them look after their eggs on the next batch.

Watching them take turns guarding and fanning the eggs is also fun.
