males will always protect their home and will chase away a female or any other fish

females tend to see if the male will stay there long enough to care for the eggs once she she is ready or vice versa he will let her in and trap her she will spawn and he will fertalise the eggs and care for them while the female will rest a bit and carry on as normal

I have exactly the same problem with my ABN Male, my female is trying her hardest to get in his cave, even seen her trying to squeeze under him to get in but he's not having any of it - MEN! lol

lol Hunny_b, glad its not just my male that doesnt seem interested, but give them time and im sure they will be

I made the cave myself, i have several other types of caves in all 3 of my tanks and the BN plecs seem to absolutely love these ones

Hi St24rsap, How's the BN's going? I came down this morning to find Mr & Mrs ABN in the cave together So fingers crossed if yours haven't got the idea they soon will It might be though that he doesn't WANT to share his posh house lol

Its going good thanks Hunny_b, great news about your plecs, fingers crossed they will do what nature intended them to do

no action with mine yet, i have 2 lots in seperate tanks and both males are in there caves all the time but no signs of eggs or females being in there yet

have you made a cave yet then?
