Recently i bought a couple of plants and got some weird blue ramshorns with them, since then (like 3 months ago) ive had a pop. explosion! i now have them in there own 10 gallon, theres 8 large enough to grab (half an inch in diameter) and a bunch of little baby ones, along with 36+ egg clutches! i was just wondering if anyone has ever bred them, if i should make a larger breeding tank, and if theres a way to catch some little ones without having to pick them all off one by one without crushing there shells. thanks

I've never had any blues, and would be keen to buy some from you. Your tank size sounds fine. If they are anything like the beautiful reds, their shells are very delicate until they get quite large. With babies, the only safe way to move them is to encourage them onto something tasty like a lettuce leaf of slice of cucumber, and then remove lots all at once, without having to touch them at all. Good luck..

thanks for the reply, i was wondering if its really nesessary that you get calcium supplements for snails?

No calcium supplements from a bottle. Every one of my tanks contain a mixture of bog wood and tufa rock. I feel this gives me a balance of hard and soft – whether this is true or not, who knows, but it's what I have always done with some success. I also float a small piece of cuttlefish bone in every tank, which most of my snails will have a chew at from time to time.
