Do you think that it is possible to breed these wonderful fish without the high tech systems?
I want to take the White Cambodian Betta and really develop the strain. I plan to just get rid of all the males when they are 2cm big and just keep the females and re-breed one of the daughters with the father and see how I can develop the strain.

Not sure what you mean by Hi Tech system, I mate & breed mate mine in a plastic tub with just a heater, I transfer the fry when they are a bit bigger to a tank with filter later, nothing Hi Tech about it, ask Cracker about how he does it.

What do you mean?Hi tech system?

I use a 10 gallon with a few plants for the female to hide in.And a styrophome cup half for the bubble next,then when the babies are a few days oly I put in a small sponge filter.Its really easy the difficult part of breeding is raising the fry.

High tech doesn't come into it- it's just the sheer amount of tanks/containers you need. Your idea is fair enough in theory, but the main problem is 'I plan to just get rid of all the males when they are 2cm big'. Where to? It's unlikely LFS's will take bettas that small, or that many, and depending on the tail types you're using, sexing can be a pain at that size.

By high tech system ->

Huge racks with 30 jars and a sump and so on.

I want to get a male looking as good as these http://www.banleangbettas.com/

Then I select the male I want to breed with then add the female. Raise them then pick the next male I want.
I plan to keep 5 males, 1 to improve the strain and 4 to sell on as breeding adults.
