Hi,
I am new to the salty side of things and have only an 85ltr nano but I have thrown many a pretty penny into that tank and I am a long way from being both satisfied and finished. But I'm getting there.
I was wondering how much you guys reckon you've spent on your marine aquarium over the years
Place a ball park figure on how much $ or £ you've spent.
Scarey or what!

On my 4gal pico I think so far I've spent about £140?

That's without corals or most of the livestock though :|

Even though i bought a second hand tank i think i have spent a total of about £2500

£850 ish only just put fish init and its 155l i think ot something like 40 gal not 100% sure but close

i would consider my 20 mixed reef a "semi tech" tank, ive spent over 1500$ on it (american dollars, back when they were worth more)

Too much!!

Every visit to the lfs for some food ends up costing £100+ as there is always something me or the mrs's just has to have. In total after 2 years on current tank, £3k easy, like jonny.t i darnt list it all and add it up

All in all, worth every penny and off to lfs tommora to fill a gap in the reef  so more expense.

Jon

Hmmmm yes our lovely tank has cost us a fair whack over the last couple of years and I am sure 3k is on the conservative side as the little things tend to add up. Though we have saved ourself a fair bit by recently buying an RO unit. Then (against my better judgement!!) I have recently agreed that our son (who wants to be a marine biologist) can have a nano tank in his room as he is soon going to be relegated to the small bedroom so his new baby sister can share the big room with his other sister and is going to lose his big tropical tank in the process. Kids eh.. who'd have em :p

Our money is shared so i know exactly how much he has spent... haha. Though he did have MTS when I met him and now I have got him down to 2 tanks (from the 9 he had when I moved in) he has got me into the hobby and I am worse than him!! I will say right we are going to LFS to get water and thats all we are getting!! When we get there, I will see something I like and I will be going - can we get it oooh that'll look nice we can put it in between this and that and we will end up spending a fortune and it will actually be my fault!! Men huh, who'd have em... :):)

C'mon you love us really.
Anyway good to see you are both involved in the hobby which is very rare indeed.

Hehe well if you can't beat em... join em. If we are going to have fishees in the house I certainly want a say in what we have and how it looked :) particularly as Jon is not that great at arranging things aesthetically :) there was a definite need for a womans touch when we moved in together... :)

I just feel privleged knowing his mistress is a fish tank ;)

Wow jflowers and Mrs jflowers on the same thread at the one time.....thats nice.

He's just checking I haven't written anything nasty about him haha, though he is putting the baby to bed so can't currently defend himself ;) We also sit next to each other with laptops on the sofa so he is often leaning over my shoulder seeing what I am putting!!
