Is this real?
I saw it posted on neatorama.
Can koi come in blue?
Just so used to seeing the usual colors I guess it's just hard to believe one would be such an intense blue color like this.
It's gorgeous if it's real and not some dyed fish.

Yeah, I didn't think it was dyed, but *shrugs* never know heh.
I've never seen any with blue spots before, would definitely be a site though :)

it might be real, i've seen what looked to be an all blue koi before, it was either all blue or a mirror, but very nice and definately not dyed

My work had a blue koi this past week, all blue except a stripe of black on its back. Sadly it had some sort of disease, however, and it died a couple days ago.

you can get blue koi

this could be a freak of nature
but i think the picture could have been tweeked as theres splashes of blue around the rest of the picture not just on the fish

the bottom pic is what the koi looks like naturally the person who took the pic has been play with the colours saturations
this is why the greys and blacks pic up as blue also the stones turn a reddy colour
this is saturation turn up 100% just so you know what i mean

colour saturation turn up by photographer to get this fish to look blue notice around the stones are also blue like the top pic

colour saturation normalized you will notice the blues have gone from the rest of the pic and the red stones are natural colour and blue has gone from the edges

agree woth saph tbh.

i would say it is normally a ochiba but the colours have been tweeked. nearest colour fish to this with that scale pattern would be a soragoi. these are normally grey but can have a very slight hint of blue.

the other fish people are mentioning are shusui

its also dark enought to be a Karasugoi with its blue haze and reddish belly scales, but the scale pattern arent right so i recon its a heinze 57
but i quite like it

so the pic was photo enhanced like i thought
i was just to blue to be true lol

^_^ ello all! I too have question this image before.. though it seems unlikely, too many koi carp can be found in ranges of blue as shown at the end of this random youtube video. observe the top of the screen and you will notice the lil guy.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ky8tXWUbEHs

To further this, I myself have owned a young blue carp which was one favored over the rest of the group though sadly it didnt live long. The neighbors cat got 'em. :rip:

Any which way, during the 3 months of his residence in my pond I notice the viberancy of the blue fading as he grew larger. I have yet to find a "LARGE" blue koi in exsistance. My little one "2-3inches" when purchased from the local fish store had a nice, soft if you would, sky-blue. Before the last of his days.."4-5inches and plenty healthy" looked more white with a slight blue fluorescence..

Just came across this post and thought i would show you that you can get blue koi i have one if you would like i can post a picture up such a beautiful colour :)
