There’s a slim but possible chance parts of the uk will experience power cuts during winter. Now I don’t mean to sound doom and gloom, but has anyone made preparations. They said these power cuts would last three hours.I suspect this would affect smaller tanks more.

Don't live in the UK but we have many power outages where I live. I keep two aquariums with angelfish a 40 and 75 gallon. They are not heavily stocked but I have gone three days without power in the winter without heating or running the filters. The air temp dropped to about 15 degrees(inside), water temp down to 17 degrees (Celsius). I do keep a small 2800 watt inverter generator to charge up backup batteries to run a couple of inverters for critical household things. I wouldn't worry a 3 hour power outage unless you have a small tank or very heavy stocking.
