Thanks in advance

What kind of fish do you have???I have to do some reading on the black spots I will get back to you in a little while and let you know what I come up with.. Are the fish acting different??? Still eating and everything..

My red zebra got black spot when I introduced an oscar into the mix. He's had it ever since, and acts totally nomal. Been like 4 weeks or more he's had it. I've been trying to get help on treatment, but haven't found out anything. 1 Person even thought that it doesn't kill fish and it's harmless. I read somewhere to use salt, which I've been doing. I also want to know how to get rid of it.

black spot looks like ich but the spots are black instead of white. it is also parasitic. not as fast spreading as ich. can treat the same as for ich. raise the temp over 82 and use a parasitic med. also salt will help with treatment.

Well, I've had black spot on my zebra for a while now. Nearly a month. He has been in a tank that's salt content is 1.3 tbsp per gallon. Should I try putting him in a salt bath? I've also tried malachite green without any effect.

Black spot is a condition caused by the presense in the skin or fins of larval digenetic flukes belonging to a number of species i.e - a parasite which has two hosts at different stages of its life cycle harmless on a snail then is passed to a fish where it develops into black spot)

It's usually harmless though not very nice to look at, unless the infestation is really bad. Did you put any fresh caught snails in the tank? its not infectious so you don't need to worry about isolating the fish but there isn't a treatment for it that I've heard of yet.
