The electrical signals that these guys shoot out let them know what's near them. So if you have one that doesn't like to come out for viewing a lot, you can place a clear hamster tube in the tank or a clear peace of PVC and the Ghost Knife will go in there. Using the electrical signals, he will think that he's in a cave or a secluded area and he'll feel safe. Meanwhile, he's now viewable in your aquarium. I think they even manufacture clear tubes that sit on top of columns that you can stick in your gravel, specifically for fish like that.
