Hello everyone, well, I work at a local pet shop, and well we had got a shipment of fish recently, so well we got 2Black Ghost Knifes. Anyways, eventually, no one wanted to buy one because of the ridiculous price of it, so we eventually sold one, but then the other one was there for a week or so, and well I decided to purchase it since one of my tanks at home was empty, so I wanted to give them a try cause they are real cool fish, especially the fact that they are electric fish, and nocturnal/blind somewhat. Anyways, I bought the fish, and well, when I got home, I let him out, and well as I had been watching, what I noticed was that he liked the suckion that the filteration took did, so he liked hanging around the long pipe that sucked the tanks water, and well what I noticed was that, he end of the filter was killing him somewhat, and making him weak, because what it did, was suck up the black that he had alittle, and when he fleed, some parts in his body would look white as if he was in a fight or something, or like if he was dieing, cause he use to get real weak, and the black color that he has tends to faid away, as if he brused himself or something...
Well, I believe im a professional already with fishes, so well, I kinda fixed the problem, and I added a longer tube, so that he didnt get stuck and hurt as much, so the end of the filter is at the bottum, and since the tube i attachted was alittle big bigger, another opening is there at the other end of the entry of the regular tube. So, I added another end to the filter tube, a move thicker end, and this end has more holes, and less harmful.
But anyways, my question to you guys is that, I wanna know how I can prevent this from happening again, especially if in a few more years I transfer him to one of my bigger tanks, with my other filter, im scared the filter sucktion might suck him, and suck away all his black coloration, and eventually, death.
So if you guys have any experience that you can give me, that would be nice, because I dont have any air pumps, I only got filters in all my tanks. So I guess for those people who want to buy one of these fish, I recommend you have a large large tank like a 50, or above, or else, the filter might kill your Black Ghost Knife, and im lucky that my tank is pretty big for its size, I have a 30Gallon Tank, that he is in right now, so throw me advice.
