Wow! Just read the article. It looks like some kind of octopus but it's not. I believe that there are way more sea creatures that we haven't discovered yet. I'm always very surprised how sea creatures have evolved into a life form that makes them survive in certain deep parts of the sea and ocean. Very fascinating...!

These guys were super popular 300 mya. Lots of round crinoid stem sections in the limestone around here. Unfortunately, for us fossil collector types you don't find the crinoid heads very often. The way the article is written it makes it seem like the crinoids are really unique but they are still pretty common, though not a large numbers most of the time. They are related to starfish and sea urchins.
