OK,
So, in my haste to find out (in an earlier post) whether my Zebra Danios were 'pregnant' (not strictly the correct term, i know), i didn't look at my other fish.
I'm pretty sure, now, after lots of research, that one of my Angel fish are about to start laying eggs!
She's been 'grazing' on my filter intake tube for the last couple of hours, apparently getting the area ready for the eggs.
You can see a small tube protruding from her underside, as well as the males, although they both look quite different!
The male is 'patroling' the vicinity, scaring away anything that gets near her!
I'm sooo excited :hyper: !!!
I'm sat by the tank, just waiting for this to happen! My wife thinks i'm mental, perhaps i am!
I'm hoping to catch it all on video!
Am i just really sad, or are there others like me out there? :fun:

WOW!! You're going to be a grandpa  ;) !!! please post a video. Is it hard to get them to breed?

LOL, you know what. I would be like that as well. It is exciting to see this when you raised them from when they were babies. :)

I've managed to get a few shots so far, but nothing too good! She's laid about 150 so far, and ate about 140 of them! I've read that it could be because there's not enough sheltered spots in my tank, so they eat the eggs, rather than any of the other fish doing it!
The pair still seem to be protecting the few they haven't ate though, so maybe there is some hope after all! ????
I'm aslo pretty sure the male has fertilised most of them!
Fingers crossed!
Does anybody know how long it's likely to be until the eggs hatch?

Update -
They have stopped laying and fertilising now. I reckon they laid more than 150, but ate all but 6 of them!
Hopefully they'll survive until morning!

I remember the first time I had angels spawn in my tank; I was like you; glued to the glass!

The eggs take three or four days to hatch. Please remember though that it often takes angels a few spawns before they get the 'hang of it', so do expect them to eat the first few batches.

Also, many angels now are reared artificially and there's some evidence to suggest that fish need to have been raised by their parents to know how to be parents themsleves, so some never quite get the knack of hatching and rearing the fry themselves. Meaning, of course, that those eggs have to be reared away from their parents too!

But plenty of time to cover that in the future :D

Thank you, again.
Just checked in on them before turning their lights off, and it would appear they've ate them all!!
Oh well, better luck next time!
