hi i have a 100l tank and want to add oak leaves in there and want to know whats bad and good about having them and if i have to clean them first etc

apparently, tannins from wood/leaves etc, are good for both plants and fish.

oak leaves are fine, wash any dirt off them first, and then boil them in a pan of water, you can tip the stained water in the tank aswell as putting the leaves in.

What sort of biotope are you trying to recreate? Oak leaves can be great for fish like Apistograms, but would be unsuitable for something like Malawi cichlids.
