Biorb 30L - Dont Hate Me Please!

hrmmm maybe shrimp is a good idea then as they seem pretty cool to keep.

thanks for the adivce im going to check out that list of species now!

i did read of someone having a betta in the same tank as mine however i believe they need a lot of swimming space dont they? what other fish would be suitable to have in there with it?

Bettas don't need a great deal of swimming room, as they're not wonderful swimmers. They tend to live in areas with very little water flow/movement in the wild.

i cant make my mind up betwee featherfin rainbow and mosquito rasbora!!

hmm...just a thought...have you looked at apple snails/mystery snails? One of those could replace your want of a bottom dweller. We happen to LOVE our snail..he goes around sucking the glass and everytime we look up he's moved somewhere else...not as slow as you would think.

My advice would be to go have a look at them in the flesh at your LFS. There are so many fish I would never consider just by looking at pictures online, but they're gorgeous when you see them in person.

good idea that sounds sensical to me..

and @ Fish Fanny... i dont really fancy snails i dont think theyre my cup of tea to be honest but i may consider to be honest i havent actually seen them so i may feel differently if i see it some in person

Most tropical invertebrates have a tiny bioload, meaning that you can add them to your tank safely without having to worry about what waste they produce. You could happily add a few snails and shrimp on top of whatever fish you're planning.

No worries :) Hope you find things you like when you go look! We were also considering shrimp, but my store was out. I bet they are fun in person...they certainly look interesting enough in pictures!

So a snail would live happily with shrimps? Do either need any addition to feeding apart from what they find in the tank?

Shrimp are very entertaining.
I have a few orange ones in with my Betta.
I'm going to get some more for my main tank

haha yeah so true.

im so disappointed though about not being able to have a clown loach that was going to be my favourite!

oh well gives me an excuse to buy another aquarium in the near future

Yeah I know lol Ive always wanted a large aquarium but I thought I would try a small biorb to get a hang of it first

No harm in that. I started off with a 60L tank but I'm looking to move up to somewhere in the region of 120-200L in the coming months, and the experience has made me much more aware of what I'd want to do in a bigger tank in terms of stocking, room positioning etc, and I think in the end I'll have a better tank overall than if I'd started off with a big tank.

if it hasn't arrived and your not happy with it you can always just send it back and save up for a larger tank. if its size thats a problem and you like biorbs have a look at the 60 lt. they might even have a few on ebay second hand.
