What's the biggest fish you caught fishing?

I've caught a 12 pound California Sheepshead on Squid and fancy hook

I've caught a 16 pound Largemouth Bass on a topwater frog

One of the biggest fish I caught in length was a 3 foot Boccaccio - only 6 pounds - on a Green 6" Hookup

29 lb Lake Trout from the Snowdrift river near the settlement of Lutselk'e, NWT Canada. Red Devil Lure. When we lived there we ate mostly wild meats because store bought meat was too expensive.

25+ lb halibut near Vansittart Island off the Northern End of Vancouver Island, silver buzz bomb. I was on a multiday kayaking trip when I caught it, it dragged me to nearly 5 knots on one run, almost cut the line a number of times but I remembered giving my brother in law a hard time about cutting the line when he hooked a big fish. Took over an hour to land. We had to eat halibut for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for 3 days till the remainder remainder kind of went off, no refrigeration available. I didn't care for halibut before now I just don't like it.

I actually prefer to catch smaller fish that only provide a single meal for me and my wife when I am kayaking.

once when i used to go fishing a huge (at least 20+ pound) softshell turtle managed to get on the hook somehow
i thought it was a monster fish until i saw it come up
in the end, i had to get a bunch of other fishermen that were around me to help get the hook off of it - when it was still in the middle of the lake 🤣

28 inch striped bass, minimum regulation size..about 10 pounds...I rarely go fishing so that is the biggest I caught.

My grandpa and I caught a massive snapping turtle with a chunk of a hotdog years ago. My grandpa cooked it up in a big ol stew. I was very glad to have been at school that day.
the other day I stopped my car on a two lane road when I saw an adult snapping turtle sitting in the middle of the road and barely moving. I got out and tried to move it, but it kept snapping at me. Luckily someone in a truck came out and was able to move it back toward the river where it came from.

If I were u I would of just eaten the turtle.

Wow! That’s a brave thing to do for a snapper! We had someone come and remove as many as possible from our private lake this spring, because they are invasive and destructive. This was the first year we’ve had ducklings on the lake, the snapping turtles ate them all every other year.

Box turtles or red ear sliders, on the other hand, we stop for. I hate how some drivers will intentionally hit them
