Big temperature drop.

yesterday while i was not home my sister dumped about 50x extra food in the tank and i scooped some out but most have all ready settled and thismorning i woke up and my tank was covered in waste it needed to be cleaned imeadently so i removed me tetras i couldn't catch to zebra danios but i was very conserned for my ghost knife and angel fish because and loaches i just got them 3 days ago and im afraid they havent competely settled i removed all the plants except my pvc t pipe for my ghost and stirred the gravel up and siphened 50% of the water out and the temp was 80 and i had to put new water in so i put cold water in with aqua plus and waste disposal and now the temp is 70 thats a huge drop for 5 min i need help

That is a huge drop. The danios and angels should be fine, but the neons, ghosts knife and loaches won't like it. I believe they are sensitive fish. Have you tried using warm water to put in the tank?

I usually get a couple of buckets lined up outside the shower. Fill the first bucket with a thermometer in it, regulate the hot and cold to get 25 Degrees C (75 degree F), then empty the first bucket into the tank while the second is filling in the shower. That way the temp stays constant in the tank.

I'd say do another water change with warm water and don't try to move the fish around to much. The more movement the more stressed they get.

Hey

you mentioned that you stirred up gravel and did a water exchange.
I would also reccomend that you buy a gravel vac that actually sucks on the gravel in your tank and cleans it all out. ( providing your not using sand)

that should get rid of a lot of the waste. If it is a larger tank then it would be fine if you did small water exchanges for the next few days to clean the gravel and let water sit overnight in a large bucket and it should only cause a drop in temp by 3 or 4 degrees. *in a 20 plus gal tank anaways
