For a tank that size why would you not want to sump filter?

Sumps far better filters than any canister (even eheim) due to the masive volume they give you.

Easy to clean, Easy to add/take away mediums (i.e. carbon/zeolite). You can put everything else in the sump.

sorry to hijack your thread Cane76.

Andywg,

Thanks for the feed back.

I have not had any experience with fluvals or ehiems for that matter. If fluvals are renowned for failing, especially catastrophically that is a good reason for avoiding them, so long as this information comes from reliable sources.

As far as messy fish I was thinking about something like a Panaque species pleco in which case the debris is an issue but that is not an issue for everyone.

For me personally I would be buying the fluval over the ehiem because I don't have the extra money needed but if I had plenty of spare cash I would go the ehiem, I am not doubting they they are top notch.

The company that built your tank make sumps, give them a ring for a quote.

You will need one hole drilled for the over flow.
