Hey

What are the dimensions and volume of the tank?

I wouldn't personally put rays and oscars together but thats just my opinion

96in long 19in wide and 24in high!

ok i make that about 717 litres.

IMO it would be a big risk for the BGK, especially due to the current size differences.

I would maybe look at a shoal of large silver dollars or some larger catfish for the bottom, such as limas or shovelnose.

Will she ever be able to go in there or just forget it!!! i have read that BGK only get to 20in and because i have her from a baby i would not risk hurting her but she is now getting big enough to eat some of her tank mates! so ill have to think of something!

we have a cat fish i think its a target cat! its a yellow brownie colour and it has like a target spot on each side she we bought her as a sun catfish! dont know how big she gets hasn't grown that much in the 6 months we have had her, i cant post pictures without taking out her hiding spot!!! she is around 5in now!

We do realise that rays need allot of tank but i read you can get miniture sorts it was just an idea thats what i was asking for!!!!
i am under the impression that Arowanas take 3-5 years to get full grown and i would not have it in a small tank its in a 4 ft now and we only bought him 2 weeks ago hence the 8f tank already!!!!!

I love the "only 20Inch " statement, made me chuckle.

I thought this was a friendly site where people can get good advise!! i didnt think i was gonna be made to look stupid if she grows to 20in and she was in a tank with grown oscas and arowanas then 20in would infact be an ONLY 20in because she would be the smallest!!! we have read that 6ft tank would be big enough for arowana so when we purchased a 8ft we were thinking it would be fine as long as this is the only one we have in there as a top feeder! would it be that unhappy??????

You misread my comment, it was that most people attach "only" to something 2" or 3" not 20" lol...wasnt a dig

8ft is a good length, but your biggest problem will be the mere 19" of width.

How do you expect a 20" fish to turn around in there? Plus the fact that this is, as you say, the smallest fish in there.

Ok when we bought this tank there was another tank but it was 4ft long bye 2ft wide and 3ft high would this have been better????? :-(

nope, the one you have is much better, but still not quite wide enough for the larger fish,

also just to let you know the BGK wouldn't be the smallest as the oscars would probably max out at 14inches, however with the BGK its not a case of everything else is larger its the fact that everything else is more aggressive.

Edit: what are the smallest fish that the BGK is in with at present?
