I currently have the following;

30 gallon tank

1 5 inch Acaricthys heckelii(SA cichlid)
1 2.5 inch Satanoperca jurupari
1 5 inch polypterus senegalus
Also, some bristlenose plecos and raphael catfish.

Planning on taking ou the cichlids, leaving only the polypterus and the catfish.

I would really like to add gouramis, for sheer love of them and for some movement to the upper part of the tank.

I would like to get either blues or pearls, but which species should I get? I am almost 100% sure the cichlids won't attack the gouramis. But I'm worried that they could maybe be too aggresive towards each other(blue) or maybe too timid(Pearl)

So some questions are(Applying to both species);

How many could I add, and what ratio? In the end, it would all end up to a gourami and polyterus tank so the cichlid's space won't apply very much
Can the gouramis eat 1mm NLS cichlid pellets? They will be around 2-3inches when purchased

Any feedback(EVen recommending not to do it) will be appreciated :)

hmm my gourami are fussy, some days they wont eat something and others thats all they want, just try it and see.

My two blue/three-spotted gouramis are tough as nails. They eat tubifex and bloodworms, and get along fine with my senegal. However, keep in mind the maximum size of your bichir when purchasing smaller fish. My gouramis are full-grown, so there's no need to worry since my bichir's only about 6 or 7 inches.

Why? Aren't they too big to eat? And bichirs aren't aggresive like cichlids.....And the cichlids in my tank are nice!

Also, judging from past experience.....Is it hard for gouramis, either pearls or three-spots, to eat pellets? Mine only ate flake, they tried to eat pellets but just spit them out :/
