Hey all. :D Remember me? Yes, the girl who keeps her Bettas in bowls....well, not anymore. Today I went out and bought a new tank for Toby. He's really enjoying his!! I also used an older tank that we had brueid under the sink for Sushi. I cleaned it out, and it's probably a 2 gallon or more. The thing is, Sushi doesn't seem to enjoy the new tank. He keeps giving this, "WTF!?" look or he just turns away. I thought this switch would be good for him, because in his bowl he looked rather depressed. I have pics, but you can't really tell that he's sad/angry/ect. Is there a reason why he contineus to act so depressed, even in a larger home? Toby just LOVES his new home!!

Also, Sushi's water looks dirty. o_O I don't understand why it's foggy and dirty looking. I cleaned it. Is there a way to get rid of this fogginess?

So....there ya have it!

Good for you Bettagirl, I'm so glad you moved them out of the tiny bowls!
The cloudiness could be caused from the gravel. Did you rinse it through before adding it to the tank?
Sushi is just getting used to his new home so I wouldn't worry too much. My boys did exactly the same thing when I moved them to their new home. With a couple of plants and hiding places, he'll soon perk up and get used to it! :good:

I did rise out the gravel as best I could, but maybe I didn't do it enough.

I have a couple of tanks that get cloudy when I change water. In a day or two it clears up. I know your fish will get use to the extra room. I have the same drum type bowl for one of my bettas it is heavy but very nice. I got a new betta yesterday and put him in a 2.5 gallon tank he is still not use to it, he thinks he has to patrol his kingdom constantly. I am glad your parents was finally able to get you the tanks, it will be a lot less work for you!!

They do sulk if you move them about...one of my faves is in major sulk at the moment and I think it is because I moved his tank. He can now see other fish, not right next to him but close. Whereas before he was next to kitchen table and could just see us. I am going to clean him out in a minute and have a talk to him. He also has the biggest tank..

Great News well done you for giving them bigger tanks :good:

Sushi seems to be enjoying his tank more now. He doesn't seem to be sulking anymore. Unlike yesterday in his bowl, he's no longer acting so depressed. The reason I decided to give him more space is because he was just laying at the bottom of the bowl, pretty much motionless unless I tapped on the glass. Now, he's up and about swimming happily. He's even started up a tiny bubble nest.

I'll get more pics soon.

When your fish are in a period of funk after a change, please don't tap on the glass to see if you can get them to react. That only stresses them. Just give them their quiet time and the opportunity to adjust to the new surroundings.

Glad you made the changes. They were truly cramped before.

I've gotten more pics. Seems like every picture I take of Toby, it has a huge glare. x.X So sorry if the picture didn't come out really well.

http://i13.tinypic.com/4pov891.jpg (awww....I hate glare!)
http://i18.tinypic.com/6ak4jnn.jpg (another stupid glare <.<)

PS: By using all the pics you've seen, how old do you estimate Sushi is and what tail type is he? Only wondering! Thanks.

no idea on the age but normally there about 1 year old when they get to LFS and think he is VT, love his colour
