I had 4 bettas I sadly lost 2 (one I save and nursed back to health, he was too weak and passed on and the other sudden death?) Until then they each lived 2 in a tank in 2.5 w/ dividers.

I have 2 left in seperate 2.5 tanks. I was told they live well with mollies, so I tested each seperatly w/ my mollies in my 10 g Klause- my red chased the Mollies:* and Lucky my rainbow/red just sulked in the corner as the mollies tried to make friends with him. He kept his back to them the whole time :(

The I moved them back to their respective tanks and I noticed they were not eating and they would give me the "tail" whenever I came to over.

I got worried so I tried rearranging the tanks and I put them side by side were they could see each other and :hyper: did that get them happy :drink:

They stopped giving me the tail and started eating their pellets and brine shrimp again.
Now they flare & stare...nap, eat ...flare & stare some more and so on ....and they are speaking to me again!!!

so I guess they can't live with each other and they can't live without each other

o so very true! whenever my three original bettas r seperated they get all sad and sulky but when they r together they swim and flare all the time......they need each other........what i've also noticed is my bettas rn't very happy when they aren't in the living room with people coming and going and the tv on.......they r quite social for non social fish!

they are social, you are soo right.

they are also hams.

When I have company or my family comes in to see them they show off and swim around showing how pretty they are and get really active. And when my family talks to them they stare intently like they know whats going own.

they are little charmers!!
