Betta Tankmates

its another of those, dont believe everything they tell you's! Try feeding him a little less and see how it goes

no, five pellets twice a day. the bottle thing says between 2-4 pellets twice a day.

so the side of the food says between 2-4 pellets twice a day and you feed him 5 twice a day that makes no sense 10 pellets a day is abit extreme dont you think for one betta!

if you give him a pellet at a time rather than just chucking them in he will have time to eat them before they absorbs 2 much water and sink.

if he is spitting them out obviously you are feeding 2 much especially if food is gathering in the gravel and making the water cloudy.

no more tank mates for him there is plenty in a 2 gal already Bettas tend to attack tank mates so why do people feel the need to get a tank mate i dont get it!

After having to remove a couple of troublesome danios ( the other 4 seem quiet for now) I was wondering once again about adding a gourami.....my betta is VERY placid and I highly doubt he'd do anything to a gourami......but how would it work on the gourami being with the betta?
If this would be ok, what sort of gourami would go best?
I like the look of the honey gourami, and my lfs has little orangey red ones....not sure what they are.....any ideas anyone?

DON'T DO IT! I was in the supermarket once, and I saw this guy with a kid, and the kid was holding a bag with a honey gourami. So we talked abit. Turns out the honey was to live with the betta. But I didn't know any better than, so I didn't say anything about it. But no, the honey gourami will be treated as another male, whether it's male or female, no matter how placid the betta, DON'T ADD THE GOURAMI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for posting, though, that could have been lethal.

sorry bit ofa newbie.....what's a BN plec? how big do they get?
BN is bristlenose, ironically, I'm listening about them right now. Here's the link. Now, a BN needs quite a bit of room, about 20 gallons. A pitbull can do fine in ten gallons, so long as the water has enough oxygen. However, do not make the water turbulent if you are keeping him with bettas.

ahhh...nah my tank is about 12 gallons....only smallish......i think it's bulldog plecs not pitbull as i said.... :)

I think twelve gallons is too small for a bulldog pleco. You may want to post in the catfish section to ask the right size, specifically the loricaridae(spelling?) forum.
