Look at these...well cool. Thinking of getting one on mail order Do you reckon the light will suply sufficient heat (cos im in the cold uk!) and what if i have to turn the light of at night and the temp drop, will the betta withstand this?

These are well cool though:

Anything i should really know on bettas would help

Merry Christmas! :kana:

Hey again,

Like i said, and its all about persona preference, I like to keep my fish in a larger tank that that is, but as a concept it seems nice.

I'm never sure abuot heating a betta tank by using the light alone, in my house the temperature drops quite a lot at night, so whilst the lights i use to provide a fair amount of heat, the temperature dropping so much at night would worry me as it would stress the fish.

However...people do successfully manage to keep tanks without heating here in the UK, by heating the room they are in rather than the tanks, so if you are sure that you can keep a constant temperature in the room then, dont worry about a heater... :)

Those tanks that you are showing cost about £22 + what seems like the same again in shipping charges at least, possibly more I think, so for £40-50 (which is what this will aprox cost you I think) you would be able to get a nice 3g glass tank, heater light and stuff for a filtration of your choice, so personally this would be my choice...! :)

It is however up to you...! :D

I have one of those in blue/clear. The flourescent lighting doesn't really give off any heat. And the tank has no cover, so it is at the mercy of the room temperature. But they are lovely, nonetheless. I intend to get 3 to 5 in the coming months.

Cool, i think they look well cool itty bitty. Being in the uk it might just work out a bit too expensive to have it shipped. hopefully they will bring one out over here. Until then you could send me one as a Christmas prsent if you would be so kind!!

Whoa that is pretty cool. I might want to get one soon! thanks for the link tropical_adam!

yeah go on itty bitty, why not? as long as he/she don't mind long haul flights! :shifty:

No worries Mike. I put the link in and i gotta pay twice a smuch as you guys to get one! Nevermind, its Christmas and all about sharing! :look:

i just upgraded to a flourescent lamp from the yellow striplight i had before :/

ive put the strip behind the tank and it gives a nice evening glow.. its also pretty warm so i can turn it on as a heater if it gets too cold at any point.. my tanks seems to vary from about 72 F at night to 75/6 F in the day.. so i think that will be fine for a betta.. which im planning on gettting.. (A FEMALE..as i think they are underated.. also shouldnt nip the fins of my danios.. )

good luck! turn up your radiator abit maybe :)
