i was at the pet store today with my little cousin and she wanted to go over and see the betta fish. as normal they were in a sorry state there were 2 males in the same cup and about 3 were dead and had been rotting for what looked like days, i cleaned the cups and seperated the 2 males and went to go find the ideot who had left the fish in such a state. when i come back my 6 year old cousin had hunted down the manager and was demading an explanation as to why her favorit fish was being kept in such a small container. hey was trying to tell hey that betta fish are happier in a less then 1 gallon bowl and she was correcting his every mastake, i was laughting so hard. finally the manager said they were kept in such small containers because they couldnt afford anything larger, and if she could could find a cheaper larger way to keep them. with that she ran into the back room got a 2l pop bottle cut the top off put some rocks and evan a plant in there and behold a 1 gallon betta fish container under $4. 
latter we came back and he was true to his word every betta fish was in one of her bottle containers she was so happy and i couldnt stop laughing.
all the betta fish were more active and they seemed alot more lively.
