hello again,

well, im getting obsessed with bettas again, after a brief obsession with cichlids, and have several new pairs, one of which is in the proccess of spawning. i was just wondering what you all thought. (im not sure what the "terms" are for there color and fin type, could yo all help me with that?)

im sorry, but i cant figure out how to put the picture directly onto the page, but here are links to the pictures.

Hi and welcome

The black male with the female picture - male is a very nice VT (veailtail) and the female appears to be CT (crowntail)

Not sure on the others, but Constantines looking and she's better at fin types :good:

It's hard to tell without close up pictures of the female...She's either VT or CT. I can see what looks like rays on the dorsal, but that's the only fin with them, and it could just be from the fin damage...which both females have quite a bit of. Are they living together? If so, what size is the tank? Females are best kept in groups of at least 4, so that could be a big reason for all the torn fins (unless you have them in a community tank with some nippers or attempted spawning, which I'm doubting from the other thread, and the fact that neither male has any significant fin damage).

Oh, and to insert your pictures directly, copy and paste the IMG link provided into your text box.

my females were in a 5 1/2 and there were three, but i added another, and she kinda attacked all the others. she is for sure a female as i can see the oviposter. (i thought at first mabey it was a male) ill try and get more close up shots, my cameras being stupid at the moment (or mabey im being stupid :) ) i mover the aggressive female to a 20 gal community tank and am melafixing my other females. thanks for all the help :)

An oviposter is not a good way of sexing them as some boys have them too!

the VT male is a black orchid and a very good one as well, worth spawning him as even though a VT, black orchid VTs are very rare at the moment, i would put him with the girl in the bottom pic as she looks as if she may well hold some of the same colourations as him, as for the females im unsure as again the pics arent clear enough and on is a bit battered in the fins so its hard to know, but very nice fish :good:

thanks for the compliments modaz. i am in fact attempting (key word :) ) to spawn that pair, so hopefully i can keep the coloration going. thanks for your help :good:
