Betta in the Bog

actually things that are sunk into the ground stay an amazingly stable temp ... unless its gets like full all day sun or something you's be suprised how stable it can be. I dont guess a bog in full sun would be very successful so I guessing yours is not?
Also there are some breeders in Georgia who are currenly conducting an experiment on raising betta fry in outdoor tanks and its been quite successful so far.
I was also reading in a fish mag the other day about putting livebeares outside for the summer. The article suggested that as long as the contanier was at LEAST 15" deep and not in direct sunlight all day they would thrive in it.

Anyway ... all that to say I think its a good idea :)

indeed it is a good idea. I'm just too parasnoid to ever try it.

You have nothning to be worried about having a Betta in a Pond or Bog.

You are in the States

I am in the Uk and Have Successfully Kept Bettas OUtside in an Above Ground Pond. I Left him Outside from July to September and then Bought him in WITH NO SIDE EFFECTS.

But I Would not recommend Keeping the Oranda and Betta Together, She will Seem like the Worlds Largest Target to Him.

Use the 2 Gallon for the betta - If you ont want a Heater, Try a heat Matt.
