Betta getting stuck too u3 filter

My new Betta is getting stuck to my u3 filter, I’ve a new Fluval Roma 125L tank and my Betta is going behind filter to hide ( I read this is normal when a Betta is getting used to a new tank) all water parameters are fine. Just wondering what I could do to fix this problem? Thanks in advance.

could you possibly put a couple of big silk plants on either side? It would give the betta other safe places to hang out and could keep him from getting behind the filter.

could you post pictures of the tank so we can see what else is in there?

get more decorations for it to hide in, caves, plants, tree trunks with holes in it.

that’s my setup. I put some blue coarse foam into the right of the u3 where JD (my bettas name ?) was hiding and getting stuck and that’s kept him out of there for the moment

Yeah that tank is very open and therefore the betta is shy and trying to still adjust. The decor looks good though. You might even be able to add some ember or neon tetras in the future?

I have 6 false julii corys in there too at the moment im thinking of adding some cardinal tetras in about 6 weeks or so after these have gotten settled in. would you think that would be ok? Plants are only in tank 4 weeks so still growing. i also ordered a red root floater this morning for some more cover for my betta. Thanks for the replies everyone this is my first ever aquarium so still learning

Cardinal tetras go great with bettas. Just get at least 6 since they are schooling fish.?

Very good i was thinking of getting 10-12 of them, also wondering can you have amano or cherry shrimp with bettas?

Cherrys maybe, but they will likely become expensive snacks...amanos are larger, and should work fine.
One thing I would suggest is to lower the lighting, most new fish in a new setup settle-in better with diminished lighting...

I’m a little more hesitant with shrimp. So usually you would add shrimp before the betta but this is not the case. I assume your betta did not come with any shrimp so you really don’t know how the betta will react. Sometimes it will go after them constantly other times they will be great friends. So it’s really a guessing game with the shrimp.
Amanos might be fine but like I said it’s really a guessing game and playing it by ear.

I would recommend against adding the tetras. In my experience bettas do much better alone. Tetras can get a bit nippy and will stress out your betta. Especially if he doesn't have anywhere to hide. One thing to note about your set-up is that bettas like to hang out near the surface and they like having plants that they can hide behind or rest on near the surface. I would add something taller like a java fern/amazon sword or put in some floating plants like frogbit. It depends how large your tank is. Is it 10G? Or more? If it's 20G, an amazon sword would be great.

Amazon swords are great. I know this from experience.

If it’s a 20gal then it might be appropriate, can’t tell from the pic though.

Ok they arrived last night at 10pm and lights only gone on now but will lower for next few days
