I don't know what you mean in the title by shark, but you cannot put any sort of shark and definitely not any sort of algae eater or plec into a ten gallon tank. It isn't big enough at all, and both sharks , plecs and algae eaters grow very large indeed.

If you already have sharks then you must rehome them, take them back, or buy a tank of at least 55 gallons + ( at least four feet long or bigger ) in order for them to have correct swimming and growing space. Keeping them in ten gallons will stunt their growth and this is painful for them. It causes many health problems as well.

If you haven't already :

Make sure you cycle ( fishless preferably , read the stickied topics in the beginner section ) the tank for one month or more before adding any fish at all. It takes patience and commitment, but the results mean that you are less likely to have health problems and deaths in your fish.

You don't need an air pump, as the water coming out of the filter will move the water's surface, and this means oxygen can mix with the water more easily.

But if you are having a Betta, they do not like their water fast moving ( but they do need a filter like all fish ) see if your filter has an adjustable flow. This will be a little notch or similar that you can turn, to make the water coming out a lot slower. Then point the pipe towards a wall of the tank to stop the fish being blown about by the current.

Bettas are not strong swimmers, so a strong current will stress them. What sort of filter do you have? Is it an internal, that sits inside? Or a Hang on the back sort?

ur talking rubbish, u CAN get a plec in a 10gallon, but youd be limited to a bulldog pleco which gets to 2inches

as for the shark, not a good idea with the betta, they get big and are notorious for turning aggressive, altho it depends on what shark ur on about

imo, get the 10 gallon, either get one male, or set up a small female sorority, and have 1 bulldog pleco

good luck :)

As I have never heard of bulldog plecs I therefore cannot be talking rubbish within the context of my knowledge. This renders your saying I am talking rubbish utterly pointless.

the filter is a aqua-tech 10-20 it hangs on the out side of the tank and has a tube that goes in the tank
and this is just a starter tank
i plan to get a bigger tank soon
the fish place said that the beta shark only gets a max of 6 to 8 inches
the beta sharks that i have are 1.5 inchs now
and i was thingin of putting in an otto or something like that

are u on about a betta, or a shark? because they are two completely different species, and without the correct info we cannot help properly, and yes 8inches is wayyyy to small for a 10gallon

please back to the topic
the shark is sliver and have black fin tips and big eyes
looks like a shiner

if u were to read my posts, they were on topic

not sure why ur posting in this section about a silver shark??

but yes a 10gallon is not big enough, but also to ur other question u can get a bulldog pleco for a 10gallon

are you sure it didn't say bala shark? does it look anything like this?
