Best Way To Clean Water? Betta Beginner.

Volleyball_rox, I'll be frank. I'm probably not going to start until the summer hahaha... I do seriously want to consider it though. But no time at all. UNLESS my filter breaks, then I'll start early. Don't get your hopes up, sorry...! Actually, I think my biggest issue is the empty food canister. Where can I get that? I'm no where close, and I do'nt want to overfeed. Do you think I could just go to a LFS?
First off, when you said I'll be frank, I thought it said I am frank. I was like ooooookkkkaaaayyy lol. Then I reread, relizing you meant you aren't lying lol. I'm sure you could get it somewhere else. Or Empty your food canister into something else. But I'm just going to wait.
:good:

Wow, then you must be one patient girl hahaha. I could NEVER wait that long! And lol, sorry for comin' off wrong.

Yeah, I don't plan on making it anytime soon. I'll ask around for empty food canisters. I could empty into something else, yeah. Hmmmmmmm. Time to start planning

Yup Yup.
Oh and yay, I'm pretty patient. Exept when it comes to math, I'm very impatent with math.

thank you, both of you :)
I nearly bought a betta myself today!
there was a lovely red one flaring contstantly at the one in the next tank in the lfs :)
he was gorgeous, and there was a sad looking purple one that didnt seem to be able to stay off the bottom for more than a couple of minutes. i want a halfmoon really though asnd these were veil tails.

sorry enough about me, how is your betta? any better? (excuse the pun, didnt mean it :))

Nessar, resist...resist! Hahaha. I know at my Petco there are halfmoons. Pricey, but I'd buy it anyday.

And were you talking to me, or volleyball_rox ? My betta is absolutely fine. Tail hasn't shown too much improvement, I gave freezedried bloodworm as a little treat. Did a 50% water change! Let's see how this keeps going :)

Well I was asking volleyball_rox, but i didnt know anything was wrong with yours?
What happened?

I've never seen anything other than a veiltail at any lfs in england :( as far as i know you have to go to a breeder to get the fancy types.

have a peek at the thread i just started, not sure where to get one from! wont be buying for 2 weeks though 'cause my cycle is only doing 2ppm ammonia a day at the moment, and I have inspections in 2 weeks (Im at uni)! And im not allowed pets! dont fancy hiding a tank when there are fish actually in it.

It's in my other thread. My betta's tail got ruined.
I'll read that thread after dinner! I'm in a rush. ... and I don't know what an uni is :) But... you have to hide your fish? Constantly? For every inspection? Oh darn...!

University :) so I guess thats College if youre American?
lol its dinner time over there... its past 3am here!

I only have 1 inspection per semester, so its not too bad, just need to wait till this ones over cause of course I'll have to empty the tank to move it, its a 15 gallon. Cant really empty a tank to put it in the wardrobe if theres fish in it!
Moving to a new house in May though where Im allowed pets :) my hamster will be happy!

And I've actually read that thread before, just didnt realise it was you. Your poor betta :(
Im going to give it a go with real plants, although ive only had them 3 weeks and already one is dead and the other is following so I might have to resort to silk. Not plastic after reading your story! Im sure his tail will heal fine though :)

... Even mentioning math is depressing. Hahaha

To get a little back on track..... how do you do your water changes, currently? Do you still take your betta out? Etc?
I do it by evey otherday removing 25% of the water, then the next day adding aged, purifyed water.
Nope, I'm too afraid to take him out!

There's no need to remove the fish from the tank when doing a water change.

Mine stay in the tank. A couple of them are a bit naughty though and try and swim up the syphon (one did manage to get up there because she was chasing after a bit of pea that had been in the bottom of the tank - luckily I yanked the syphon out and she plopped back down into the tank.)

I know it was probably quite scary at the time, but it made me laugh just now :)

And Volleyball_rox, had any luck with the tank yet? and hows your betta?
