Got my first Cansiter Filter today and need to decide what to stuff it with. Already has a layer of Bio max then a Layer of floss and thats only about a quarter of the canister.

My main question is what media should I use?

I am thinking of first a small layer of my current media (would only be an inch high tops) with a bag of carbon then topping it with Eheim Substance Pro then a later of carbon and lastly some floss for the time being and after I order it some Bio balls. As for the Bio Balls which is best, Ceramic or Floss?

I was also told that Kitchen Scrub Pads make great media for cheap? Non used of course.

Really depends on what livestock you plan on keeping... I would lay off the carbon though !

My pond filter is full of pan scouring pads ! Work a treat :good:

Bioballs are a real con if you ask me... go for ceramic noodles or balls (eheim version !)
