Best excuse for a new fish

my paretns dont care as long as i pay for it and it wont eat her neons. of course i havent told her how big pictus's and severums get yet :D

Since I'm away at college, I don't need an excuse until I bring them home
However, my parents are pretty tollerant of my millions of pets, so as long as I take care of them and we still have room in the house, they're good to go. Worst comes to worst, I sneak tanks in when no one is home, set 'em up all pretty, and just wait to see if anyone objects. I brought home a 30 gallon for my 2 goldfish (want to go to a 55 one day but they're only 3 inches long and my parents would SO not go for it at this point) when no one was around. They came home and after a few moments of stuttering angrily, addmitted that it looked really pretty in the kitchen.

"Just keep a quiet log of all the missus buys thats totally just for her...

then just remind her of them, after you have come back fromt he fish shop

Always works, they always spend more than us"

 WHAT?! Corbypete, that's too funny....Actually, my boyfriend spends WAY more than me on his hobbies. $300 for new snowboard, boots, all kinds of books at the bookstore he never reads instead of being sensible and going to the library...

I always chalk up new fish to the personalities of the fish themselves... they're lonely, need company, they'll get on better if we get one more of this or that. Best thing is to take the family with you. This past time, my bf was actually saying we should get a few MORE fish... I had to stop him, especially since I had to fight two people because the crazy lfs guy was like, "Yeah, you can load up your 10 gallon with about 10 platies...that's about max" Our tank is only a ten gallon. SO we have 2 platies and 3 mollies. I'd love cory cats but my tank has salt :( Anway, I digress....

BF claims he's not interested, but when he comes home from work now he always looks in the tank to see what's going on and how our new plants are growing, etc. He also thinks I'm obsessed with this site and the fish. We had a huge argument about it over the week-end. But yesterday he actually came around. I told him my sister was thinking of giving their big 30 gallon to my nephew and how I was going to help my nephew cycle it and get it ready in time for his birthday to add fish. BF said, "Why don't you take the big one and give the little 10 gallon to your nephew."

Couldn't believe me ears, folks!!! Always good to make them think they thought of it first, eh! LOL.... B)

I get fish if they're horribly sick and will most likely die.
I got the first one because I wanted one for our space at work.

The second one I got because he looked like he had dropsy and finrot.
The third one I got because his fins looked like the grim reaper.
The fourth one (got him yesterday) I got because most of his dorsal fin was just gone and the poor dear was laying in his cup not moving.

I'm in total rescue mode now, and everyone around me knows better than to try and stop me. :flex: Although I won't be bringing anymore home unless they're in DIRE dire need of some TLC and are obviously suffering horribly.

I love helping fishes

:p You're making me want to go to the walmart about 20 minutes away that actually sell fish and pick up every sick fish I see and let them go in my 120 gallon once it is cycled.

You also made me shop around for betta tanks the other day on ebay. I have a 10 gallon but it doesn't have a filter nor a heater so I was wondering if I could put a betta in there. It has pretty purple gravel. I was thinking about getting a small heater and only fill the tank a little more than half way since I don't have a lid for it either. What do you think?

I say "Don't forget, I just gave you a 1 1/2 carat diamond engagement ring and we are closing on a 2500 sq. ft. house in two weeks. I think it will be okay for me to get a new fish especially since I don't drink, smoke, gamble, or chase women."

She says "I like your new fish, it's really pretty."

I don't need excuses because
1. My little brothers don't care about new fish
2. My mom doesn't care very much
3. My dad is just as into the hobby as I am

Raech - LOL
of COURSE you should get it, that'd be super duper sweet.
That's the ultimate 5 gallon tank for bettas then - look at the swimming room they have - and even if they decide to go flying out the top, the worst that will happen is they'll smash into the glass sides and slide down. heh heh

That sounds super fun.
Be careful, though, once you go off to WalMart and find one sicky, you'll be drawn back there at LEAST once a week. Eventually you'll figure out what day their trucks come in, and you'll go there on those days to check out the new batch. then you'll need to go back a few days later of course to see if any of them have deteriorated. Then you'll 9 times out of 10 find someone that's sick and have to bring him home with you.

THEN you'll start doing the same thing at other stores.
It's a vicious cycle. but WELL worth every penny, ever hour, every little flare.

Hehe I could get two male bettas and buy a divider for the 10 gallon so it would be 5 gallons each.

I dont need an excuse either. I am old enough to be able to spend my money any way I want, and I usually spend like $4 a week or two. Plus my brother just bought a 55 gallon, so my parents say they can say no to me because he spent so much, and i didnt get it, and i wanted it for christmas! But i do get to put fish in there.

I live alone, noone to make excuses to. :D

Well, except maybe myself. I wanna buy all this stuff, but i'm supposed to be saving for a new camera and some lenses.

Just one more fish? I think all of that deserves at LEAST an entire new tank setup!!!

My boyfriend bought me everything for my 120 gallon (including the 120 gallon) so sometimes he will say, "Will you give me a back massage, my back is soar?" And I will say, "No, I am too tired." And he will say, "Fine then I am going to take back your filters I bought you." And he knows I will do it after he threatens to take away my fish or fish related things. :p He's never really serious though...atleast I hope he isn't. One day we got in a big arguement and he said he would kill all of my fish. :grr: I knew he wouldn't do it though, he loves them as much as I do.
