Hi all. Im about to purchase a 250ltr tank.
I would like some recommendations on a canister filter that will do the job.
thanks in advance.

I love my fluval fx4 canister, but if it's out of budget, the eheim classic series are fantastic and very user friendly in my experience with them.

Sunsun is okay, but I prefer the eheim and fluval more.

I recommend Fluval 407(preferably) or 307 which are very user friendly and cheaper than Oase.
Oase housing material seems to be a bit flimpsy.

Fluval has a good design and is easier to take out the medias for cleaning/maintenance than the Eheim Classic.
I don't recommend Eheim Classic which has a very old design and their prices are not much different from Fluval unless you want something very simple to operate.
Other Eheim models(Eheim Professional) are better than Eheim Classic but they are too expensive for me.

Anyway, these are my opinions.

guess there a lot of good ones out there now. I've been using. RENA3 on my 125gal tank for years and years. only thing ever went wrong was a cracked impeller about 14 years ago and Amazon had new ones.

I’ve had a great experience with the Fluval 307. Great adjustable flow. Joyous hose connect. Easy of cleaning. Good looking unit. Quiet as a mouse and powerful if you need it.

I will only comment on what i've used. I have an fx6 and eheim 2217 - i've used both for over 5 years. I hate them both but i hate the 2217 even more.

The fx4 would be easier ot manage than the fx6 and i've not used the fluval 407 (which i think is a different model). Btw both eheim and fluval have 'adjustable' flow but i would not adjust them - they are relaly meant for turning off the water to remove the lid when cleaning. Both company i've talked to said you can adjust the flow a little but it puts more strain on the motor which long term will have a negative impact.

Btw a lot of people like oasse (which iv'e not used) and there are some nifty metal canister filters that cost both arms and a few toes. One canister i like from a design pespective is inland but it is expensive when you add a pump and plumbing.
