Ive been researching on anemones, as ive been thinkin about purchasin one. the first thing ive learned, is to make sure u know wat ur doing, lol. I learned that from reading all the puzzled anemone owners on this forum :p . so im thinking about a bubble anemone, so my clowns have a possible home. my tank is 37 gl, 24 in deep, with 2x65watt lighting, and an acrylitc (if spelt right) moon light. ive heard this is enough, this isnt enough, so im wonderin which is it? also wat r good website for anemone keeping, and is their any anemones that would even fit this lighting description? thx

I wouldnt ever try a nem under less than a 175wat halide if it were me. Most successes in keeping one are under halides, so why risk less lighting? Furthermore, I'd worry more about getting your nutrients and cyano in check before you put a nem in there ;)

Oh, and as a tip, Perculas tend to host in LTAs and carpets more readily than BTAs

ok, but yea believe me im not buying anymore fish, corals, inverts, etc until my cyano situation is delt with. i dont wanna risk anything else at this pt.

LTA = Long Tentacled Anemone. BTA Stands for Bubble Tipped Anemone

For the nems' sake don't get one without halides. I can personnally assure you that it can be done under pc lighting as I have seen it in a friend's tank. But I can also assure you that over 90% of the time it doesn't work.

If the nem decides to die uner the PC lighting what type of risk factors are you up against? I heard that it might crash your tank.

Thats correct, it could. Dying nems can release toxins that will wipe out a tank so beware -_-

Nah, deteriorating frogspawns are not likely to nuke a tank at all. Minimum lighting depends on the depth you keep the coral at. You can keep a frogspawn under a single PC bulb or twin T5s (spanning the length of the tank) if its within 10" of the surface, if you want to go deeper you'll need to double that up :)

Incase you havent spotted this post - have a look

My tank is about 18inches thats all the way down. The sand elvates it a bit so I would take 3-4 inches off. So about 14 inches deep. Now I was planning to put it on a rock which is about 5 inches high so take off 5 from 14 and I get 9inches. Anyways after all that math :S , i'm going to put them under the 130watt PC'S i bought. Is that enough? Also, do frogspawns sting?
