Bekele's First Meal With Me

wow, thats fairly big how many others do you have and how much room do they need each. :)
I've only got two, a male and a female. The female will be a bit bigger, around 5'. They are not very large when you consider body mass though, very long and thin, so you can keep an adult in a 20g long easily. I'm planning on a pretty large setup for the pair when they are bigger :)

I can't understand how people keep snakes...my pet cockatiel scares me when I have it on me I can't imagine a snake.... :shout: But they are lovely snakes...and love the kind of dark humour in this post... :good:
I have an evil parrotlet, he's SO much worse than these guys!!! Birds scare me a lot worse than snakes, honestly; those beaks are sharp! Vakasa and Bekele, their fangs are small, it's like getting a pinprick... Petri, the parrotlet, can take a plug out of you! I've never been bitten by a snake, though I did come close with Vakasa.... the house snakes are a lovely species and not inclined to bite AT ALL... except when restrained behind the head, that is. I had to hold Vakasa once while she was getting a shot at the vet (she had a respiratory infection), and she almost got me. Bekele didn't even try to bite his breeder when the guy sexed him for me, but that's because he was being restrained around the middle.

Very cute snakies, be even cuter if they stayed that mini ^_^
If only! They will be very impressive at adult size though, so I am excited about that too. :)

I didn't see the other thread and many ppl post topics with more then one type of animal in it. But please a warning next time. I am not trying to be a troll or anything but beign a rodent lover it was hurtful.
I don't mean to be callous, but it was already dead. It had been in a freezer for God only knows how long, hard as a brick, before I thawed it in warm water and plopped its lifeless corpse in the tank. It suffered greatly at my hand, as you might imagine. Were I feeding live I would have included a warning, but forgive me for assuming that nobody could possibly find this offensive enough to complain.
Jesus, I hope you never have to handle raw meat.

I'm a rodent lover too. I have owned many a rodent. Rats, in particular, make fantastic pets. However, snakes are also amazing animals, and they gotta eat.

Frankly, this is an issue that has been on my mind as of late thanks to the goings-on in another forum, and I am really, really tired of censoring the smallest of things just so those of us who are inclined to faint while walking through the meat section of the supermarket don't get offended. It's not my fault that you are as sensitive as you are, and it is not my responsibility to protect you from what the majority find inoffensive. YOU are accountable. The rules of this forum do not explicitly state that I should attach a warning to such images, and being that this is the general pet section of this fine forum, you should expect to see some snakes occasionally, and they just might be eating. I refuse to walk on eggshells over crap like this -- sometimes you have to step up and be responsible for your own well-being and peace of mind instead of expecting everyone else to bend over backwards to make you comfortable.

I'm a nice gal. Were these pictures of a snake eating a LIVE mouse, I'd have posted a warning. They're not. I couldn't have guessed anyone would find them "hurtful", as you put it. I even added that they were snakes to the thread title after your first post, but you came back to the thread, despite the offensive pictures, to labor the issue, so this is my honest reply.

....Don't any of you dare ask me again. :|

Great Pics and glad he has taken Defrosts for you.

Dont think i will post one of my Horned feeding because if people get upset about a snake feeding on a defrost pinkie they will freak with him as He takes XL :hey:
It was obvious to me what the pics where going to be and i would have been suprised if i didnt see what i did

how can you not like snakes? i would love them im just scared i would not be able to look after them correctly.

pinkie??????

pinkie: a newborn rodent (typically a mouse or rat) used as food; so called due to the lack of hair which generally reveals bright pink skin

Lol yes, funny names. When they start to grow hair they are called fuzzies, and during the stage right after that when they are very active and love to jump they are called hoppers :3

Lovely Snake

Next Time I go the Inlaws Villa in India. I will try and get some shots of the Resident Python and Cobras that live in the Fields surrounding the Villa.
The Python Lives in a Huge Termite Tower.

Inlaws would not tell me/show me where he lives as they are toooooooo scared of him.

Nice snake :)

I don't find the pics of it eating offensive...

Maybe not use the word "retarded" to describe his shed, though? That I do find offensive

We've had this discussion before involving my use of the word, and I feel the same way about that as I do about the pictures. I'm through feeling like I have to be responsible for censoring every single thing that someone, somewhere, might be offended by. I backed down in the first thread in which it was brought up, but I am sick of this. You know exactly what I meant when I said that, and I think that, knowing that, if it still offends you then I am sorry, but you can bite me. I can't bring myself to care. It is very common slang and I've no intention of ceasing my use of it. If you find it so offensive, censor it yourself and ignore me, it is really very simple. It's not like I go around calling people 'tards all day, though if Vakasa's shed comes to me and complains I will certainly apologize for the insult. I try to be sensitive to the feelings of others, but give me a break already.
I am so over this.

Your ignorance is astounding

Bite yourself

If there has already been a thread about you using that word...then take a hint and stop using it

I'm sure there are people that are so over you using that terminology

I'll say it again. If you don't like it, you are more than welcome to put me on ignore. I'm not going to change to suit you, madam, so it's up to you to change the situation to your liking. Ignoring me seems the easiest option, I think.

I know what I believe, I know what I meant, and I know that I have absolutely no ill will toward the disabled. Given that, I see absolutely no reason to cease using a common slang term just because some people have thin skin. I don't get all in a huff whenever people say "f*g" or use "gay" to mean something negative, even though those terms are actually relevant to me, because it is just language. Ignorance, to me, is expecting the world to change for you.

Life is a lot less stressful when you learn to step back, give people a break, pick your battles, and don't sweat the small stuff.
You'll find then that people aren't lurking around every corner waiting to offend your sensibilities.

Edit for paragraphs, that was a big block of text :p

Dragging this back on topic....

Lovely snake Synirr, nice to see him eating (I had a corn snake hatchling who refused to eat unless I pierced the pinkies head to let some of the fluid out).

Nice shed as well but can we see the rest of the snake please ;)

(Sadly I'm down to one snake now, a 4' Tiawanese Beauty Snake - which reminds me must get her food out - she mistook my hand doing her water last night for a mouse - like being savaged by an angry piece of velcro ;) )

And Synirr, don't stop posting - I enjoy your posts and pictures :)

(And as for people not liking a snake eating, I think snake food (ie whole mice etc) is better than tinned cat/dog food - that stuff god knows what's in it, atleast a whole mouse is a mouse so you've got a good idea what's in it. I ought to see if I can dig out some of my old snake pics ;) )
