bearded betta

Guppler apears intent on breeding mutated fish,

Actually, I said i have not deliberately bred mutant or defective fish, and the "defective" ones are nonbreeders.

Either way, do you have any idea how many fry bettas produce, the huge numbers of tanks needed to raise th amle fry and the difficult process of conditioning the breeding pair and getting them to breed?
You appeared interested in not only breeding the betta with the beard but also your guppys with "boomerang" shaped bodys or ones with kinks/curves in them, this is not wise. You said at the start of the guppy thread "Once in a while I wonder if it migh tbe interesting to breed the angled fisf on purpose".
Um, .... check the first post on this thread. Yes I do have an idea how many fry there could be. I said that was why I don't plan to breed bettas any time soon. And again i'll say wondering about something isn't the same as being "intent on" it. I'm actually less interested in breeding bettas in general right now than when I had my first pair, partly because the cories and guppies are keeping my busy enough.

Anyway, I was thinking of another description while I procrastinate fiddling with the cameras because I really should be sleeping now anyway. I thought of it before, but was a little reluctant to admitt it. Maybe the beard is sort of like an unusually atractive wart. I'll try to get pictures though.

actually you would breed a dog with 3 eyes and you might not have heard this but the reason we have long finned bettas is because of a genetic mutation
breed a dog with 3 eyes?
just because you can dosn't mean you should.

That is absurd...I would not breed a dog with 3 eyes are you looney?

I think he could either have deformed gills or have a tumor. Both of these rule out breeding completley, but hell still make a great pet! If anyone is serious about breeding i suggest they post a topic and find out what their really letting themselves in for:p
