Hi All,

Just wondering if the battery powered hoovers are any good / better than the traditional syphons? - It seems to hoover up the debris and collects it within a bag, Would these be ok for my tropical tank, i noticed on the label it says for coldwater only but wondered what impact it would have on tropical (is it the motor sound / vibrations that would aggrovate my fish?)

Just thinking its a quick way of giving the tank a clean without doing a full blown water change? Anyone used one?

Thanks,

Craig

Check out this thread from a few days ago. It might help you. Here

i used one but it seems to kick up more of teh debree than it sucked up..... the best way woulkd be a normal syphon.... the hoovers do a good job at sucking upo debree but in teh end you still have a tank full of old water. better to use a syphon and suck the crap up and change water at the same time... make it fresh for your fishies. dirty water is yucky...
just some thaughts,

I would just stick with the siphon vac, it's simple, nothing can break and it gets the job done.

Syphons and hoovers both perform the same function but have different benefits.

The hoovers wok great when you just want to hoover up the crap without doing a waterchange and they work pretty well imo. For the person who claims they kick up more crap than collect, I would say either you bought a crap one, or you weren't very good at using it. I have them for all my tanks and they work fine...
