Does anybody have any reliable sources on the barrier reef? I have to write an informative speech about it, and i need 3 sources that isnt some sort of wiki:lol: Thanks

Try google scholar, mostly published papers will come up then.

what sort of info do you want?
if you google Great Barrier Reef then you should get thousands of hits to choose from.

I was there last year and again at the beginning of this year. There is a tiny island at its southern most tip called Lady Elliott, its a conservation project maybe you could give a talk on it.
Such a beautiful place.

I ended up just describing the diversity of the reefs in general. I talked about what the reef is made of, how coral survive, and how animals in the reef rely on each other for survival. I also talked about the behavior of clownfish, the veined octopus, and the mimic octopus. I went on talking about the diversity of traits the animals have. The three were nudibranchs and how they are one of the most colorful animals on the planet, the banded sea snake and its venom, and the blue ringed octopus and how its like a mix of both, where its small, beautiful, and deadly. After all that, I talked about how the reefs were declining and what was causing it. The main points for that were overfishing, cyanide bombing, shark fishing, excessive farm water runoff, and sunscreen from swimmers. The speech ran for close to 8 minutes. Sorry for the poorly written reply, i have to get out of here and get to work in like less than 5 min and I am just writing whatever comes out of my head (I also didnt get any sleep).

hopefully nobody there knew anything about the GBR because mimic octopus don't come from the GBR and we don't have cyanide fishing in Australia. It is way too hard to get the chemicals required and no one would use it anyway. Most of the Australian collectors have a bit of respect for the ocean and know if they use chemicals to catch the fish, they will lose their livelihood. But good on you for having a go :)
After all that, did you get a pass?

I hope I passed  I didnt even sleep that night. I didnt mention the barrier reef in my speech because I figured it would be easier to make up info as I needed if I just said coral reefs  I wasnt prepared because I didnt even read over my notes after I got them organized, so I was pretty much just making the speech up as I read the notes. :good:
