thats the thing i do need another filter for my 15gal when i stock it as i dont trust the filter i got with it (vita tech) its a cheap replica of an eheim filter i got the whole set from aldi for £38 so i saw it as a good excuse to subscribe also i have paid the £20 is it a 1 off payment or will they take £20 out every 6 month

It used to be good, but gradually I lost interest in the articles. Much more information online.

yeh, shame. but, to me, they are very "MOR" too frighted to be honest. with such a small circulation, they are too dependent on the advertisers to give a, truly, informative review. things look like they are changing. i saw an add for "reviewers" from the hobby, so perhaps things will change. i wont hold my breath though, the bottom line is still more important though.

That's like even online not just mags. one guy at gamespot lost his job because he give a game a bad review.

Also it really hard to go by people reviews on forums as disgruntled buyers are far more vocal that happy people with their product.

Unbiased reviews are very hard to come by in any media.

But yes glossy mags relay heavily on advertising

tfh is by far the best magazine u can gget these days. pfk is the same articles just repeated.

and example mary bailey just cpys articles from others and claims them as her own

i agree on the "online" reviews. but PFK are looking for hobbyists to review gear in the PFK magazine, not on line. payment is in the gear you review (you get to keep it).

i find that those who "dislike" a product, tend to rave against it. its not often i have seem someone set up a "proper" test, in order to trash a bit of gear.

I don't do the "magazine" thing, well not any more. however, up until 2001, i was buried in the things. Computers, Cameras, Mobile phones, Motorcycles. whilst publications from the different publishing houses had "their own stance", it was rare to see a review that was, obviously, unbalanced. have things really changed that much, that you can no longer get a "fair" review in a magazine?

as for the poor guy from Gamespot. ill bet there is more to it than we all know. either that or he would get a tidy settlement for "unfair" dismissal.
