Ok i have this bala shark i feed him shrimp food becuse he does not come to the top for the flakes like the other fish. He bites it until it gits to the botem of the tank.
Then he just go's away. So i was wondering does he see it and just go's away or is he color blind. But then my tinfoil barb sees it and eats it. O and my rocks are color. :/

Maybe he doesn't like it particulaly. Have you tried him with other foods?

You can always soak the flakes for a while so the sink. Or try some frozen bloodworm.

My bala's eat all the food i give them, flake, pellets, Algae wafers and they love krill and they go nuts for frozen brien shrimp.

Bala's actually need bloodworm as part of their diet as it forms the bulk of their natural food, they will also nibble at soft vedgetable foods like cucumber and courgette (zuchini).

Sorry but I have to say something. Did i read your signature right? Not to preach but you can't keep a bala shark in a 20 gallon. Plus they are a schooling fish and need at least one other of their kind.

I kept my bala's in my 29 gallon for about a year untill they grew, but then I had to move them to a 55 gallon and now I have to get a 180 gallon.

Its really not fair to them to be in such a small tank.

OK OK i am done lecturing.

About the food thing. My balas swim all over the tank in all levels. Yours probably wont come to the surface because it is timid.

My balas enjoy freeze dried plankton, flakes, algae tablets, frozen bloodworms, frozen brine shrimp, and frozen beefheart, shrimp pellets, tubifex worms, seaweed, frozen herbivore mixture, and the occasional fry from my platties.

the way my bala sharks woof down frozen bloodworm its a wonder they dont choke! :D :D

I feed Promin granulated fish food too (medium) - they go around hoovering this out of the water as it falls like it going out of fashion. ;)
