Bah!

If he's an egg-/fry-eater, I probably wouldn't breed him again, because he's just going to do it again and again... And about aquabid... Buy more than one fish at a time and save yourself... and don't buy from the US. You get better deals and nicer fish from overseas in my opinion. Either that or talk to LuvMyBetta on aquabid. She's the new transhipper for Watt and Duen and has lots of really nice fish from them.

I don't mean to pick a fight, but I'm going to have to disagree with everything that you just said. This was his very first hatch and I was so excited about the fry I kept checking up on them and watching the tank. I think he felt threatened by that and thats why he ate them.

About buying over seas...the shipping would kill me. Heck..I don't even have the money now for US shipping. And I've never bought one fish at a time. I've only purchased once from aquabid and it was a trio, and I got a really good deal on them, and thats why I got them compared to them compared to the rediculous $40 a pair fish I see on there. Plus I just don't have the room for more fish. I'm not sitting here with one pair of bettas...I've got 5, among other types. I'm actually thinking of getting rid of some.

I mean, keep in mind, I'm not a breeder who's got money to spare with some fantastical ultimate betta goal I'm trying to acomplish, I'm not even going to make this a regular hobby. I'm just a person who has beautiful fish and want to breed them just once because I'm fasinated with the idea. :p

I agree, Severina. My first breeding male was a notorious egg/fry eater, but of course I had my face smashed to the glass 100 times a day. I bred him umpteen times before he got it right, but he did.

With that said, as a US breeder I think sometimes it's easiest to get home grown fish. They're not all that forgiving as overseas fish, but they're cleaner in my opinion. Also, you should contact JR Baker at Betta Habari, the Houston IBC betta chapter. I think they're even having a show this year. The club is full of great people, I'm sure someone could hook you up with a nice pair if you ask on their message board or email someone (JR or Tammy especially) http://www.bettahabari.org/

I agree with Wuvmybetta! Just keep trying with them until you get them to spawn! It's just a case of trial and error! My first spawn got eaten by the male I just tried again and again!

Thanks for the support you guys! I didn't even know we had a Houston chapter! I'll check out that link :D
