how long can a betta be kept in a bag? im driving home from work now with a new fish and there is a load of traffic. its going to take about two hours till im home, so its looking like two and a half hours bagged!! will he be ok?

my general rule is to get them home as soon as possible....i won't buy a fish if the journey takes longer than 45 mins.I do hope that your fish will be ok

Since it is a Betta, you can always open the bag so that he can get air from the surface. Of course this is dependent upon you being able to keep the bag from spilling.

You will have to let us know how it went once you get home.

the journey is normally about an hour but the there has been an accident. the bag is about one third water. any thing i can do to make it safer?

never had a betta.....but i'd agree with fanofish and open the bag 4 air if u r able to. do please let us know how ur fish is doing.xx.

I am curius as to how your are on the Internet and driving

But also, I agree with the open the bag idea as bettas can beathe above the water.

Good luck :)
LOL I would like to know the same thing..I know you can instant message from a phone while driving, but never heard of being online and driving. anyways hope hes ok, im sure he will be.

There's plenty of mobile phone (cellphones) that have full net capability on the market.

Woo hoo, he survived, took just under 5 hours in the end, i got another call out and i had to go to it :(

Still, all is well that ends well, and i will never buy a fish when im at work again :p

Here is a picture - I got it on impulse as i had not seen one this colour, shape before in the UK. The finnage looks very long to all my other bettas.

Here he is :)
