Yeah then when we get it we save it on the program called microsoft word and print them out and they would come to life then we put them in a tank.

Be sure to ask for enough to replace all you lost + enough to pay for a great spawning/fry raising set up. No doubt the fry were worth money. Do your research. They need to pay for the incompetency and the stress they caused. Damages + . Check to see if they have had any incidents from/with/by their crews before = neglegence. Were they aware of a problem and ignoring it?

Thanks everyone for your kind words and thoughts....I went to the fish store today and bought another 10gallon to put the fry in....I didnt want them just sitting in that pot until someone got my tank again....(I needed another one anyways haha so I figure I would have ended up buying another) I tried to somewhat count the fry I believe there are about 15 left....out of BOTH spawns...that just kills me because I had about 160 in ONE of my spawns alone! and that was the smaller spawn....it just kills me to think about it....anyways I set up the 10 and put the remaining guys in there...and they just dont look good....I have even had a few die already....So I have a feeling not many will pull through this.... but I dont plan on just giving up on my little guys now the ones I have look like they were probably the biggest ones from the spawns...so maybe there is a chance....

As for my community tank of girls....I took them all out of the tank and cleaned it out...and followed SRCs steps to nuking the tank...since I dont know what kind of crap was in there from the roof and the light bulb broke into it as well so I thought to be safe I should...I wish everyone could see my apartment right now...its kinda funny to look at people would think I am crazy if they didnt know the whole story...I have fish in drinking glasses and cooking pots....water bottles....I just dont know what else I can hold them in until the community tanks back up and running....they seem to be doing better then yesterday though....not as pale still seemed stressed but i dont blame them...havent lost any more girls yet but there are a few who seem to be struggling.... but they still look better then before so I have hope for them...

Jollysue~ I called my parents and they are going to come down and we are going to sit down with the business owner and things I guess...We are going to try and figure it out...I asked around the complex here to see if anyone else had damages done by the roofers...the only damage done was my neighbor down stairs whos roof is leaking now where my tanks broke all over the place! sooo this roofing company is going to have a LOT to deal with....anyways Ill keep everyone updated on how it goes....thanks again all!

Do you think your lfs will hold your girls and fry to make sure they get enough room and things like that and maybe you can go their daily to feed them and clean the tank and what not.

soz for all the trouble that has happened to you and your fishies. But one thing has got me a bit puzzled did the roofing people not put in an support to hold the rest of the roof up I know they should of done that over here in the uk. So I thought that would of been done there too the only bad tank accident I have had was when one morning I came downstairs I found my big tank empty of water and 3 goldfish lying on the gravel. I just got a bowl of cold water put them in and they were ok.


As other people said get the best of the best i.e. go shopping and get the total cost of what everything will cost even the emergancy extra tank

im real sry lady, you've done all you could, definately not your fault. if i was in your situation, id find out who was working on that roof, find out where they live, wait for them to come out, i would be super pissed as well.

Nah! Don't get revenge, get money for your next spawn and new fishes. Try to find out what you can about your options under the law. You have lost use of many things even temporarily. Make a list and keep noting things as you think of them. Things destroyed, things temporarily unusable (your apartment). collect any reciepts available. Everything in a destroyed tank is potentially unusable. All that must be replaced-- the cost of substrate, for example. The costs associated with producing the spawn. Whether you can get pain and suffering is probably dependent on the type of case and court. The better armed you are the better you will come out of negotiations.

You probobly wont get pain and suffering, because most people consider small fish (bettas especially) very, very low on the scale of life importance. They think since bettas are born and killed every day, they are no big deal. that your just over reacting. That your crazy.
I dunno if I'd take that route, and I doubt it work for me. (I'm also a guy)
Get all the money you can, but dont weaste the time energya and money trying to get pain and suffering. Trust me.
If I was a judge that wasn't into fish keeping, id think you were either crazy, or too obsesive. I'd listen to you, but i'd have a doubt in my mind that you'd win.

OMG Lady, what a nightmare! That is something that everyone fears. I can't imagine how angry and sad you are... poor babies. I really, really hope that most of your fry make it and grow up happy + healthy still. I can't really imagine anything more horrible to happen to your babies, it's great that you acted so quickly and saved the ones that you did.

There are more issues than the fish in the inconvienience in her life. I don't know why I can't think of the right words for a judgment that is a monetary punishment for the company's negligence. It seems clear to me that they were negligent and consequently disrupted her life. If the fish were being bred for business purposes (to sell or show) that would be another issue. Frankly if Lady has any connection to an attorney, including a college prof., it would be wise to look into it.
