im trying to find somewhere in the uk that sells backgrounds that will post to me. All the backgrounds i have seen are very dull and boring looking.

P.s. i will be using vasaline to stick it close to the glass to make it even more clear.

I guess I have a boring color but sometimes I think "less is more". All of my backgrounds are basic black with black substrate as well.

I'm sure whatever color you choose it will look nice. :)

Just paint the back of your tank a nice royal blue(as they do in most lfs) it make most colours stand out

what we did was take a poster of a big view and stick it to the back of the tank - with the plants, water and ornaments in it breaks up the image and adds nice greens and blues.

One tank has the view from the top of Snowdon behind it!

In addition, you can get mirror paper that (almost) convert glass into mirrors - this can be used to make a tank look a lot bigger! It works well with shoaling fish as they think there are more of them than there is, but not with very terratorial fish, who will flare to their reflection and bump their heads on it!

I know that my friend uses tinfoil for this effect, he logs on here frequently his user name is 'jeef'

Personally I just use wallpaper and tape it the back really secure, its hard to find a wallpaper that suits your tank, I love your rocks! but it will be hard to find a wallpaper that fits good with that, your probably better off with the tinfoil or painting the back a color of your choice!
