Background Advice Please

Might be a bit difficult to answer and maybe i will get the old ZERO (0) response, i wont have pics until the end of the week or later.

BUT....... was wondering what colour background to get, i dont want a theme just one plain colour

the tank.....

48"x20"x20", Malawi, in terms of colour of fish..... yellow(x7), pink (x1), Orange (x4) dark grey (x4), blue/black stripes (x4) mostly (i do know the names but the colours are prob more important here!)

I have the normal (light gold coloured) sand

Lots of Lava Rock and then quite a bit of really cream (i.e. clean) ocean rock stacked up on top of lava rock against back wall of tank (the ocean rock) is spread out a bit, so you see a lot of the back aqaurium wall by the way.

So considering the colour scheme (gold sand, lava rock, ocean rock) any suggestions?

I was thinking about a completely black background to bring out the ocean rock, but not sure if this would work?

Or maybe a dark blue?

any suggestions (i know its harder without a pic!)

i think the black would make your fish stand out nicely, they are all great colours

Unless you have very dark colored fish I think black is probably the best background for any FW tank.
