BP, I assume is blood parrot? if so then they aren't african, neither are blue acaras, Julli Regani is from lake Tangyanika, and jewel cichlids are from the soft water rivers of Africa. If you decide on Malawi fish, keep either mbuna or haps (peacocks are haps), the two kinds don't mix well together, and you'll have to get rid of your cories and shark if you decide this is the way to go.

You are looking to mix too many fish from different places in the one tank. If I were you I'd decide to keep one type and forget the rest.

ok. I think ill go for lake tang because i like the reganis the best. I also like the lelupis which i think are lake tangs. Does anyone have any other suggestions

what are those requirements exactly? I found some lamp brichardis that i like so i am pretty sure ill get a few of those. Its a 55 gallon tank with a penguin 330

above all good water quality, ie. NO ammonia, NO nitrite and very little nitrate , 10ppm. and try to make sure they have enough space otherwise they will fight.
brichardi can be extremely intolerant of other fish when breeding and take over an entire tank to defend their brood.

ok. My water quality that i know of is pretty good but i have no nitrate test so i cant be sure. So what u r saying is that i should understock to make sure that they have enouugh territory? I dont think that will be a problem considering all the fish i am planning on are 10$ and up.

If you go with brichardi you can pretty much write off half the tank to a single mating pair. I'd suggest going with more tolerant species.

Check out the Altolamprologus varieties - extremely cool fish and very tolerent of other tankmates. Leleupi and caudopunctatus are nice, as well as julidochromis varieties (some are more aggro then others) and, IMO, a tang community needs some shell dwellers.

All of these fish are bottom dwellers, so you might want to go with some open water shoaling fish too. If you want to keep it biotopic then cyprochromis leptosoma is great, otherwise any tough tetra (congo, serpae, etc.) will also work.
