Back-drop

hey, i seem to be going through a phase of making my tank look as natural as possible and have seen some of your cichlids in and you all seem to have a black or 3D back-drop. Ive never bothered having one, will it change anything?? i.e will it emphasise the colours of my fish?

Having a pure black back ground, which is what I have, or having a dark back ground in general, is going to make your fish look more vibrant in color.

The fish its self in not going to change in their color intensity according to the back ground, they will just look better.

That is also why I have black sand as a substrate.
