Baby Pleco

sounds like you have a ancistrus to me in which case you may not need to get rid of it if your up grading

Phew :hyper:

Thank you for the help. You'd think the people in the store would give you the correct information huh

Do you know how to tell the sexes? And are they ok on their own or would they be suited to be with another?

it will be fine on its own if it is an ancistrus it will develope bristles on its nose if so there would be a lot more bristles on a male

Even by the pic it's very indecisive, it does shape wise look like a bristlenose but i would personally try and get a better picture just to confirm. It's always best to be sure before having the grief or heartache of getting rid of a fish that may be fine in your new tank :)

I'll try but he is sooooooo small and hard to take a photo of  trust me to have a camera shy fish lol

Here are the best pics I could get of him, sorry if they are still blurry

Feel embarrassed about my tank now  everyone else, has these magnificent tanks and I am here with my pink one (I blame my bro, he brought it for me as a bday pressie lol). I am upgrading though, so please don't worry about the now size.

God that is tiny! Have to agree it could be BN I think because you see BNs that small quite often but never seen a common that small... It also goes with what the store guy said about him getting 4 inches in a year and good with the betta :)

Thanks, yeah it's only an 18 ltr, more height than width with it. I have two offers of tanks now, a 30 ltr one and a 1 mtr one (not sure of the dimensions on the 1 mtr).

Early bird catches the worm huh :good: I have had the 30 ltr one dropped off at 7.30am this morning and planning to start a none fish cycle with it and move my guys over. I will see if the 1 meter one is any better and possibly go with that in the longer run.

My catfish is happily sucking his way around the tank, he is more active today and out in the day light, where as the last 2 days, he has hidden.

yep ill go with a very young BN, still for a full grown BN a 30 litre tank wont be big enough but the 1 metre tank will be perfectly fine :)

Are they armored well? ONly asking as I have seen my betta getting curious of him, he hasn't gone for him but I just worry as he is so small.

Panic over with, popped into the LFS this morning and they said it's a BN pleco *phew*

thought it would be a ancistrus so thats good you dont have to get rid of him/her

Yeah, I'm glad as he/she seems to be a very perky fish. He/She is out and about a lot more now and loves my terracotta pots. I am picking up some bogwood tomorrow, along with my new tank.

I wanted to do a fishless cycle but am thinking, would it help the cycle, if I put my BN in the new tank?

personally i would stick with the fishless cycle if you can that way the fish wont get harmed
