So, I have made a mess of a question / response or 2. I should restrict my personal limit as such.

I have a question for those who have raised fry,
I am trying for the first time to keep a full batch.
doing well as we are at 1 week now And 2x size so far. yet I feel more to know here.
regardless of the breed feeding is an art. please advise.

I am hatching brine daily for my fry and doing a large release 2x daily. so far so good.

can you share the way you hatch, filter, rinse, etc,

If you have ever done a culture of Daphnia or any other fry ready feeding could you please share??

the more hands on the better.

I am loving the care of my youngsters but need a bit of direction.

Anyone?

I start my fry off on Micro Worm, which is based on porridge. I seeded my culture from a friends. I then move them onto Grindle Worm which are a little bigger and probably more nutritious. That is based around compost and dry kitten food.

They both stink to high heaven, but fry grow like never before. I also feed frozen BBS and crushed Tetra Prima.

Far from worried of the smell , details? Soooo interested in a true culture. I Am doing ok but feel a better path is available and obviously is.
I could take the hint and Google but seems you have a bit of experiences.. this is my preferred source.
I'll pay in great combinations of hardly used thanks/emocons.

I as now am feeding fresh hatched BBS gut loaded, and crushed NLS, with a daily spec of algae tab . . I can do better I know.

I really do want to grow small bugs on purpose, as odd as it seems, it is a goal,.

"as now am" wow I typed that? ....
seriously: am I to cloud water with flour? how do I illegitimately do this?

It is just that. Microworm is just sloppy porridge in a lunchbox with some holes drilled in the lid. The Grindleworm is a compost base, then around 10 pieces of dry kitten food chucked in a day and a quick spray with water. Again, in a lunchbox with holes drilled in the lid.

Both were seeded from a friends culture, unsure how you would go about starting one from scratch with regards to getting the worms in the first place though.

Each worm has around 40 babies a day so you can imagine how quickly it multiplies. When they're ready they climb up the side of the tub, you scrape them off and feed your babies.

Still vague, I expected that I needed the culture,
Fair enough. I dig I will find my answer in keeping.
I've read some confusing things about 1/4 potato and time to get flea culture. I'm not rushing. I truly like my hold on things,
I just want a bit more understanding.
Digging, fair? lots of time.. as I have nothing else but work outside of that lmfao.
seriously I think I could get the scrape, I like to push my luck. after that I will only become better, thank you for the input!! I enjoy the thought,
And then there was a Bikini competition down the way .. my lord,, I'm distracted!!!

How is it vague? There is nothing else to tell.
agreed if you have no further info then there is no more to tell.
I would like to dig a bit towards the beginning of the passed towards securing and growing of my own stock of "bugs" to feed my fry.
Now if in any I had a piece a specific growth recipe.. none of which are visibly evident in the posts.Would be stellar help!!
no matter, I am creative. and will push em out.
thanks man I appreciate the responses, your posts, devoid of the playful times are always spot on.

As always a to be considered response,
Im like you but i much prefer growing the culture over even the fish keeping lol, im really intrested in it.
A few months ago i started a 'daphnia' culture which in fact turned out to be cyclops.
Ive read everyhting that i can find about them and i think iv come up with a little recipe for feeding them, largely based off daphnia but is working a treat on my cyclops.

Active Yeast (i got mine from sainsburys, 63p if i rememebr and there is alot in there
Ground up Fish food
Ground Up Algae Pellets
Small Amount of Ground up porridge

I put all this in a pestle and mortar and got it as small as i could.
The idea is to do a water change and the water you put back in to the culture should be made cloudy with the food.
I found the porridge, even though im using ready break still stays too big and floats to the bottom so next time i make up a batch i might jsut leave it out.

But yeah after seeing 3 to 4 cyclops daily in my tank, after making up my recipe there are literally hundreds in my little 10 litre so it seems to work, just care about overfeeding! its been a blight to me lol
